Lady Hawks ranked 7th in USA South women’s lacrosse preseason poll

FAYETTEVILLE, N.C.  – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team is ranked seventh in the USA South Athletic Conference preseason poll released on Wednesday.

Huntingdon totaled 29 points in the preseason poll. Four-time defending conference tournament champion Meredith is the preseason favorite with nine first-place votes and 81 points.

Methodist is second with one first-place vote and 69 points, Piedmont is third with 68 points, Greensboro is fourth with 55 points and Ferrum is fifth with 41 points. Averett, which is fielding a team for the first time since 2007, is sixth with 40 points.

Behind Huntingdon, North Carolina Wesleyan is eighth with 27 points. This will be the Battling Bishops' first season of competition since 2014. Rounding out the poll are LaGrange in ninth-place with 21 points and first-year Salem in 10th with 19 points.

Huntingdon, under the direction of first-year head coach Bryan Stanley, opens the season on Feb. 10 at Birmingham-Southern at noon.
