Lady Hawks beat Battling Bishops for first conference win

ROCKY MOUNT, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team took a five-goal lead in the first 15 minutes and beat North Carolina Wesleyan 14-7 on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks used three goals from Savannah Ryan, two goals from Shelby Blair and one goal from Kaylee Andrews to build a 6-1 lead midway through the first half. Huntingdon carried a 9-4 lead into halftime and led by at least five goals for the entire second half.

Andrews finished with four goals, two assists, two draw controls and three ground balls. Blair added three goals and Ryan had three goals, an assist, seven ground balls and two draw controls.

Shelby Martin totaled one goal, one assist and four draw controls and Vanessa Maldonado, Anita Rhodes and Keirstin Cramer each scored one goal. Sam Blount had four ground balls and Peyton Dean had three ground balls.

Goalie Morgan Coppini had 15 saves and seven goals allowed in 60 minutes.
