Huntingdon pulls ahead late in win over LaGrange

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's lacrosse team scored four goals in the final 10 minutes and beat LaGrange 14-10 on Tuesday.

Tied 10-10, Savannah Ryan scored with 9:05 to play to give Huntingdon the lead for good. Olivia Stinson scored on an assist from Kaylee Andrews to make it 12-10 with 8:49 remaining, Sam Blount scored with 5:10 to play and Andrews scored on an assist from Ryan to make it 14-10 with 3:52 left in the game.

The final four goals marked the end of a back-and-forth conference battle. Huntingdon never trailed in the game, but never led by more than three goals until the final four minutes.

Six different players scored for Huntingdon. Vanessa Maldonado led the way with four goals and two assists and Andrews had two goals, an assist and seven draw controls. Ryan finished with one goal, one assist, 10 ground balls, three caused turnovers and two draw controls.

Blount scored three goals and Stinson and Shelby Blair each scored two goals. Blair also had three ground balls. Elena Guy had three ground balls and two caused turnovers, Alex Teague and Morgan Pelfrey each had two caused turnovers and Hannah Parks had four ground balls.

Goalie Morgan Coppini had seven saves, 10 goals allowed and six ground balls in 60 minutes.
