Hawks compete in Central College Under Armour Invitational
PELLA, Iowa – The Huntingdon wrestling team won eight matches in the Central College Under Armour Invitational on Saturday.
Josh Gillaspie and Brewer Gilliland combined to win seven matches for the Hawks. Brandon Abejon won the Hawks' other match. Team scores were not kept for the tournament.
Gillaspie (165 pounds) was 4-2 on Saturday. He won his first match of the tournament by pin before losing in the second round. In the consolation bracket, Gillaspie won three matches to reach the consolation semifinals. His final three wins were by decision, major decision and pin.
Gilliland (149 pounds) finished 3-2 in the tournament. He won his first match with a technical fall (17-2) before losing in Round 2. Gilliland won his next two matches by pins before losing in the consolation quarterfinals.
Abejon was 1-2 in the 149-pound weight class. Abejon lost his first match before winning his first consolation match by pin.
Huntingdon will host Life University in Roland Arena on Thursday at 7 p.m.
