Wrestling team competes in Cumberland Open

LEBANON, Tenn. – The Huntingdon wrestling team won seven matches in the Cumberland Open on Saturday.

Mason Baldwin (157 pounds) led the team with two wins and finished 2-2. Baldwin lost his first match of the day but bounced back to reach the consolation bracket quarterfinals. He won his first two consolation matches by decision.

Wade Thomas (125 pounds), Brandon Abejon (149 pounds), Kyle Borgus (157 pounds), Deon Maxwell (165 pounds) and Aaron Williams (285) were each 1-2 on Saturday. Abejon, Borgus and Maxwell each won their first match before dropping into the consolation bracket. Borgus and Maxwell both won with pins.

Huntingdon returns to action in the Georgia Collegiate Invitational on Feb. 1.
