Huntingdon picks up first win against NAIA Brewton-Parker

MOUNT VERNON, Ga.  – The Huntingdon wrestling team won its final three weight classes to edge Brewton-Parker 20-19 on Thursday.

Jesse Rowlen's 3-1 decision in the 285-pound weight class clinched the one-point victory. This is the Hawks' first win over the NAIA Barons in four meetings.

Brewton-Parker won five of the first seven weight classes to take a 19-10 lead on Thursday before Cody Dixon, Kori Walker and Rowlen helped the Hawks rally.

Dixon won the 184-pound match by major decision (11-1) to make it 19-14 and Walker won a 7-6 decision in the 197-pound match to cut the Barons' lead to two points before Rowlen helped the Hawks complete the comeback.

DeAndre Beck (141 pounds) and Deon Maxwell (165 pounds) earned the Hawks' first two wins against Brewton-Parker. Beck won by major decision (9-1) and Maxwell won by pin.
