Beck and Pearson lead Hawks in NWA Duals

CLARKSVILLE, Ark.  – Senior DeAndre Beck and sophomore Quintez Pearson each won two matches to lead Huntingdon in the NWA Duals at the University of Ozarks on Saturday.

The Hawks lost to the University of Dubuque 24-19 and fell to Ozarks 29-15.

Against Dubuque, Ryan Brooks (125 pounds), Jacob Smith (133), Beck (141) and Pearson (149) won the first four matches to account for the Hawks' first 16 points. Brooks and Pearson won by decision, Beck won by major decision and Smith won by pin. Deon Maxwell earned the Hawks' other win with a decision in the 165-pound weight class.

In the Ozarks match, Huntingdon scored nine points as Nelson Elder (133), Beck (141) and Pearson (149) each won by decision. Austin Threatt won the Hawks' final individual match with a pin in the 184-pound weight class.

Coming Up: Huntingdon hosts its first home matches of the season on Jan. 6. The Hawks will host Greensboro, Reinhardt and Southeastern.
