Huntingdon sets new program record for wins in a season

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The fourth-year Huntingdon wrestling team won its fourth straight dual match and its sixth dual match of the season with a 41-8 victory over Allen University on Saturday.

The four-match winning streak and the six wins in a season are both new records for the young program. This was Huntingdon's fourth straight win over Allen University.

Huntingdon set the tone quickly against the NAIA Yellow Jackets with two major decisions and a pin in the first six weight classes. Deon Maxwell (165 pounds) recorded the Hawks' only pin of the match and Ryan Brooks (125) and Quintez Pearson (149) both won by major decision.

Jesse Rowlen (285) picked up his 15th win of the season with a 5-2 decision. DeAndre Beck (141), Kaleb Fontenot (157), Cody Dixon (184) and Kori Walker (197) each won by forfeit.

Coming Up: Huntingdon will wrestle in the Southeast Wrestling Conference Tournament in Greensboro, N.C. on Feb. 10.
