Hawks compete in Gator Boots Dual

NASHVILLE, Tenn.  – Four Hawks accounted for 12 of the Huntingdon wrestling team's 18 individual wins on Saturday in the Gator Boots Dual.

Mason Blakeney (141 pounds), Quintez Pearson (149), Wyatt Miller (174) and Cody Dixon (184) each won three matches. Dixon was 3-1 on the day and Blakeney, Pearson and Miller each finished 3-2.

As a team, the Hawks won two of their five matches. Huntingdon opened the day with a 40-6 loss to Manchester University and a 33-16 loss to Elmhurst College. The Hawks bounced back with a 33-21 win over Wilmington College and a 22-21 win over Simpson College before closing the day with a 42-6 loss to Luther College.

Against Manchester, Miller and Dixon each won by decision. In the Elmhurst match, Ryan Brooks (125) and Pearson both won by technical fall and Austin Phillips (184) won by pin.

In the Wilmington match, Dixon won by decision and Brooks, Blakeney, Pearson, Kaleb Fontenot (157) and Miller each won by forfeit. Five Hawks earned wins in the Simpson match. Jacob Smith (133) won by pin, Blakeney won by major decision, Miller and Dixon each won by decision and Pearson won by forfeit.

Smith and Blakeney earned wins by decision in the final match of the day against Luther.
