Huntingdon picks up 12 wins in Pembroke Classic

PEMBROKE, N.C. – Huntingdon had one fifth-place wrestler and won 12 matches in the Pembroke Classic on Sunday.

D.J. Adams (197 pounds) placed fifth and three other Hawks won at least two matches.

Adams won two matches to earn the fifth-place finish. After receiving a bye in each of the first two rounds, Adams won his quarterfinal match by pin before losing by major decision in the semifinals. In the consolation bracket, Adams lost by pin in the consolation semifinals and won the fifth-place match by forfeit.

Quintez Pearson (149) led the Hawks with three wins on Sunday. After losing his first match of the day by technical fall, Pearson won three straight consolation matches before losing by major decision in the fifth round of the consolation bracket. Of Pearson's three wins, he won two matches by decision (both 12-8) and one by pin.

Jayson Spencer (165) won two matches for Huntingdon and advanced to the fourth round of consolation.  After losing his first match of the day by pin, Spencer won two consolation matches. Spencer earned his first win by major decision and his second win by pin. Spencer lost by technical fall in his final match of the tournament.

Joseph Pearson (285) won two matches and advanced to the fifth round of consolation. After receiving a bye in the first round of the day, Pearson won 4-2 to advance to the quarterfinals. After a loss by technical fall in the quarterfinals, Pearson won his first consolation match by major decision before losing by technical fall in his final match of the day.
