WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's soccer season came to an end on Tuesday in the Great South Athletic Conference tournament quarterfinals.

The Hawks, the sixth seed in the GSAC tournament, fell to third-seeded Salem 1-0. Salem (11-4-2) will play second-seeded Piedmont in the GSAC semifinals on Friday at 12:45 p.m. The GSAC championship is Saturday at 1 p.m. The GSAC semifinals and championship will be played in LaGrange, Ga.

Huntingdon ends the season at 6-10-1.

"It's disappointing for the season to end in the quarterfinals, but this is the farthest we've been in several years," Huntingdon women's soccer coach Wes Anania said. "We've got a good group of players and the future looks good for us."

This was the second meeting of the season between Huntingdon and Salem and the second 1-0 game. Salem won the first meeting on Sept. 17. Stephanie Hubbard scored Salem's goal in both games. Hubbard scored in the 19th minute on Tuesday.

As a team, Salem took 25 shots. Huntingdon keeper Jenny Burnash recorded 17 saves.

Jessica Salinas led Huntingdon with two shots and Kathleen Penney took one shot.
