Lady Hawks’ soccer loses at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team fell behind early Friday and couldn't recover in a 4-0 loss to Piedmont.

The Lady Lions (3-0) scored a little more than two minutes into the game, led 2-0 at the half and 4-0 midway through the second half.

Despite the outcome, Huntingdon head coach Robert Milner said he is pleased with the progress his team is showing.

"We're trying to build each game," Milner said. "I was proud of the girls in the first game and again tonight. We're making some early-season mistakes that are hurting us, but we're getting a spirited performance from the girls.

"We lost this game, but we've got a positive attitude and we're building. The girls are giving a great effort and gaining experience. We've got work to do, but I believe we're on the right track."

Milner pointed to the play of Kate Garrigan, Dana Phillips, Sam Havel, Mary Kathryn Allen and Carlie Reed as just a few of the players who have been showing leadership during the first two games.

Garrigan led the Lady Hawks with one shot on goal on Friday. Keeper Jenny Burnash allowed four goals and made eight saves.

Huntingdon (0-2) returns to action at Georgia Gwinnett on Saturday at 2 p.m.
