Huntingdon women’s soccer ties Agnes Scott

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team held Agnes Scott scoreless on Wednesday to manage a 0-0 tie in double overtime.

"We didn't play well in the first half but we turned it around in the second half and the overtime periods," Huntingdon head coach Robert Milner said. "I was very happy with the girls' attitude and level of play. We played well defensively and earned our fourth shutout of the season."

Keeper Jenny Burnash turned in another strong game for Huntingdon (3-12-1, 3-5-1 Great South Athletic Conference). Agnes Scott (8-8-1, 5-3-1 GSAC) took 17 shots for the game, but Burnash recorded saves on each of the Scotties' nine shots on goal.

Ashlie Fristoe took three shots for Huntingdon, Josie Byard took two shots and Kathleen Penney, Dana Phillips and Carlie Reed each took one shot.

The official seeding from the GSAC will be released at a later date, but Wednesday's tie should help the Lady Hawks clinch the No. 3 seed for the GSAC tournament.

"We knew it was imperative to get positive results these past two games," Milner said. "The win over Spelman and the tie today should help us lock up the third seed for the conference tournament. That means we'll be playing Agnes Scott again in the semifinals and I hope that gives our girls added incentive."

Huntingdon travels to Salem on Saturday to close out the regular season.
