MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team opened preseason practice earlier this week and the Lady Hawks are hard at work preparing for the upcoming season.

"We are preparing physically and mentally for a demanding season ahead of us," head women's soccer coach Robert Milner said. "The ladies are applying themselves well, with lots of perseverance and determination in such testing weather. Thus far fitness levels are steadily improving."

Milner's squad will consist of 16 players, six of which are returning starters from 2012. Eight newcomers have joined the team for the 2013 slate.

"I am really impressed with the freshmen and the returners integrating well during small sided games," Milner said. "Along with assistant coach (Emily) Barber's assistance we will be in great stead, come first game."

The Hawks open the season on Sept. 3 at Faulkner University.
