STAUNTON, Va. – Christian Boldin scored her second goal in three games and Carlie Reed picked up her first-career goal to lead the Huntingdon women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Mary Baldwin College on Sunday.

With the win the Lady Hawks (3-2) picked up their first USA South Athletic Conference victory and moved to 1-1 in conference play.

"As a team we are all really pleased to get our first conference win and pick up another clean sheet," head coach Robert Milner said. "We have only given up one goal in the past four games and scored a few ourselves along the way."

Boldin opened the scoring frame in the 36th minute on a second-ball rebound from a previous save by the Fighting Squirrels' goalie Erin Dullahan. Reed found the net in the 79th minute on a short shot to seal the victory for the Lady Hawks.

"The ladies are buzzing with the win after two tough conference games back-to-back against Meredith and Mary Baldwin this weekend," Milner said. "From a coaches point of view coach (Emily) Barber and I are more than pleased with the girls' persistence and dedication thus far in this testing and rigorous season."

The Lady Hawks took 14 shots, with 11 shots on goal (79 percent), and held Mary Baldwin to just 13 shots, with seven shots on goal. Clara Tapplin took four shots on goal for Huntingdon, Anna Raley had three shots on goal, Boldin finished with two shots on goal and Sam Havel had one shot on goal.

Goalkeeper Josie Byard picked up her third shutout of the season with seven saves on the day in 90 minutes of play in goal.

Huntingdon returns to action Wednesday in a non-conference match against Agnes Scott, before getting back into conference play next weekend with contests against Ferrum and William Peace.
