Huntingdon women's soccer downs Wesleyan

MACON, Ga. – Clara Tapplin scored two second-half goals to lead the Huntingdon women's soccer team to a 2-0 win over Wesleyan on Tuesday.

Tapplin scored on an assist from Kendall Fant in the 71st minute and added the second goal on an assist from Christian Boldin in the 85th minute.

Tapplin took six shots for Huntingdon (4-10-1) and all four of the Lady Hawks' shots on goal. Jaime Vincent and Kate Garrigan each took one shot for Huntingdon.

Keeper Josie Byard recorded eight saves and posted her fifth shutout of the season. The five shutouts are tied for first in the USA South Athletic Conference. Byard, who leads the conference with 136 saves this season, is ranked in the top-20 nationally in saves.

Huntingdon plays at North Carolina Wesleyan on Saturday at noon.
