Women’s soccer off to good start in preseason

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Six days into preseason practice, the Huntingdon women's soccer team is making strides for the regular season.

"Preseason is off to a great start," head coach Emily Barber said. "We have a really awesome group of girls and the chemistry on the team is great.

"One thing I want the girls to do from here until the regular season is to be smart on defense and smart with the ball. They need to be patient, but also take care of the ball."

Some different pieces of the team have caught Barber's eye.

"I have been very impressed with the overall skill level, their control of the field and the decisions they have been making," Barber said.

One area Barber wants to improve is the team's fitness level.

"We will have to do some extra work, but that's an easier fix," Barber said.

Huntingdon travels to Talladega to open the season on Sept. 1.
