Women’s soccer loses to Salem College

WINSTON-SALEM, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team battled Salem hard in the first-half, but let in three goals in the second to lose 4-0 in Sunday's USA South Athletic Conference matchup.  

Salem College (9-1-1, 5-1-1 USA South) scored in the 13th minute to take an early 1-0 lead over the Lady Hawks (3-5-2, 2-4-1 USA South). The Spirits are currently tied for second in the USA South West Division while Huntingdon is tied for fifth.

Salem had an 18-2 shot advantage in the first-half and 14-2 in the second-half.

Salem scored three goals in a little under five minutes in the second-half to pull ahead 4-0 and put the game out-of-hand for Huntingdon.

Freshman Ali Brewer stepped into goal for the Lady Hawks for the first-time this season and recorded 15 saves while allowing four goals. 11 saves came in the first-half.

Madi Critcher, Jazmin Martinez and Camryn Carter each recorded one shot on goal while Shelby Clark took one shot.

The Lady Hawks return to action on Friday at Covenant for a 5:30 p.m. conference matchup.
