Anissa Ruiz, a freshman on the Huntingdon women's soccer team, is a native of Houston, where she and her family reside. As most are aware, Hurricane Harvey devastated the area and has caused significant loss to property and home damage.

Anissa was informed that her home has taken significant damage from flooding. The family had to leave everything behind and only salvaged what they could take with them.

The home currently sits in four feet of water and her mother and sisters have relocated to stay with family outside of the flood area in Texas. Anissa and her family have lost a large portion of their home, appliances, equipment, clothes and much more, which are replaceable. For the time being, they will need to vacate the area while the flood waters recede, damage can be assessed and proper reconstruction of the home can occur. During that time, the family will be accumulating expenses due to the relocation.

The Huntingdon College women's soccer program has set up a GoFundMe page on behalf of Anissa and her family. Birmingham-Southern will now serve as a home match and charity event to help directly support the living expenses the family is incurring at this time.

All excess proceeds will be sent to the United Methodist Committee on Relief.
