Huntingdon off to 2-0 start for first time since 2003

JACKSON, Miss. – The Huntingdon women's soccer team picked up its second shutout victory of the season with a 1-0 win over Millsaps on Sunday.

The win marks the first 2-0 start for the Lady Hawks since 2003 and snapped a six-game losing streak to the Majors dating to 2003.

Huntingdon junior Meredith Harrison scored the only goal of the game.

 

Records: Huntingdon (2-0); Millsaps (0-2)

Notable Performances: Harrison's goal in the 26th minute proved to be the difference on Sunday and snapped a four-game scoreless streak against the Majors. The goal pushed Harrison's season total to four goals.

Did You Know?: Sunday was the first meeting between Huntingdon and Millsaps since 2013. Huntingdon's last win against the Majors was a 3-2 decision in 2002. In the six games between 2003-2013, Millsaps had outscored the Lady Hawks 21-2. On Sunday, Huntingdon's defense limited the Majors to three shots and freshman goalkeeper Kylie Kersh recorded two saves.
