Updates for each team's preseason are being featured this week.

Women's Soccer

The women's soccer team took a big step forward last season.

The Lady Hawks set the program's NCAA-era record for wins in a season with an 11-7-1 record and advanced to the USA South Athletic Conference quarterfinals.

During the preseason, head coach Matt Gill and assistant coach Clifford Jordan have been challenging the team to keep pushing for more success in 2018.

Huntingdon opens the season on Aug. 31 in Sewanee, Tenn., against Berry College.

Gill on the preseason: "The process for us has really been about just working hard and developing a championship mindset. Since we are so young, we are still trying to figure out some things. We're finding out now, especially (through the preseason), that we have to work to be better every day."

Gill on the potential he sees in this team: "I think we have some pieces. We have 25 returning players and four newcomers. We have some good leadership among the returning players and we have some freshmen who could make an impact right away."

Gill on his new soccer staff: "The staff we have put together this year has brought a new sense of excitement and understanding of where we are going as a program. Assistant coach Cliff Jordan comes from a winning culture at Knox College. They made the NCAA Tournament the past two years, so he understands what it takes to transform a program. We also have Caylor Feltman as the Director of Soccer Operations and he makes my job easier. It's just really nice to have a staff that knows what it takes to win."
