MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon women's soccer team is looking to take another step forward this season under the leadership of first-year head coach Cliff Jordan.

The Lady Hawks were 7-8-3 last season and finished fourth in the West Division of the USA South Athletic Conference with a 4-4 record. After reaching the conference tournament each of the past three seasons, including back-to-back appearances in the quarterfinals, Huntingdon hopes to continue its success this season.

Huntingdon opens the season at home on Friday against Talladega College at 6 p.m.

Head Coach Cliff Jordan on the focus of his team entering the season: "One of our priorities will be to correctly execute the basics. With so many new faces in the program, if we do the little things correctly, that should add up to big moments in conference play."

Jordan on how the returning players and newcomers have come together in the preseason: "As a staff we are very happy with how the returners have been connecting with the incoming players. It's very exciting to see how much the players enjoy their time together, on and off the field."

Jordan on how the early portion of the schedule will prepare the Lady Hawks for conference play: "We are challenging ourselves early with our preseason scrimmages and the non-conference portion of our schedule to help prepare us for conference play. Playing programs like Centre, Berry, Rhodes and Emory will help push us to the next level and help us be ready to compete with the strong conference programs in the USA South."
