Huntingdon shuts out Scotties in Rd. 1 of USA South Tournament

MONTGOMERY, Ala.  – The Huntingdon women's soccer team eliminated Agnes Scott 5-0 on Wednesday in the opening round of the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament.

The Lady Hawks will play at Greensboro in the conference tournament quarterfinals on Saturday at 11 a.m. (Central). Huntingdon (6-10-2) is the fourth seed in the West Division and Greensboro (12-4-1) is the No. 1 seed in the East Division.

This is the fourth straight season Huntingdon has reached the conference tournament and the third straight season the Lady Hawks have advanced to the conference quarterfinals.

On Wednesday, Huntingdon took the lead with two goals in the first half and put Agnes Scott (5-11-0) away in the second half.

Alexis Louk scored Huntingdon's first goal on an assist from Doren Staley in the 17th minute and Lindsay Paskman scored on an assist from Reilly Feeney in the final minute of the first half to make it 2-0 at halftime.

Kirstin Hayes scored on an assist from Louk in the first minute of the second half before Staley made it a four-goal lead in the 77th minute. Kayley Yates closed the scoring on an assist from Ari Paoli in the 81st minute.  

Goalkeeper Kylie Kersh earned the shutout with two saves in 90 minutes.
