HUNTINGDON WOMEN’S TENNIS HAS SOLID SHOWING IN USTA/ITA SOUTH REGION CHAMPIONSHIPS
ATLANTA, Ga. – Katie Scott won her consolation division and Hannah Creamer reached the B-draw finals to lead the Huntingdon women's tennis team in this weekend's USTA/ITA South Region Championships.
The Hawks won eight of their nine first-round singles matches on Friday and finished the tournament with 18 singles wins and three doubles victories for a total of 21 wins. The Hawks won 16 matches in the tournament each of the past two years.
Scott, the sixth seed in the tournament, lost her first match of the tournament, 6-2, 4-6, 6-2 against Rhodes College's Maggie Donoghue. Scott came back to win three straight matches in the consolation bracket. She defeated Centre College's Kathryn Hays 8-6 in her consolation division finals.
Creamer won her first four singles matches in straight sets to reach the B-draw finals, where she lost to Agnes Scott's 6-3, 6-4. She beat teammate Micaela White in the quarterfinals to advance.
Creamer and teammate Christian Vick reached the B-draw semifinals in doubles before losing to Meredith College's Mollie Musgrave and Mary Lawrence Newton.
