Lady Hawks knock off regionally ranked Sweet Briar

GREENSBORO, N.C. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was without two of its top six players on Saturday, but the Lady Hawks knocked off Sweet Briar 9-0. Sweet Briar is ranked 18th in the ITA Atlantic South Region.

Huntingdon (7-2) was without senior Christian Vick (No. 5 singles and No. 2 doubles) for the entire match. Junior Katie Scott was able to play at No. 2 doubles but did not play at No. 2 singles.

Even with several players moving up a position, Huntingdon won every singles match in straight sets. Taylor Clark won 6-1, 6-0 at No. 1 singles, Hannah Still won 6-2, 6-1 at No. 2, Hannah Creamer won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 3, Arielle Barraca won 7-5, 6-2 at No. 4, Micaela White won 6-0, 6-0 at No. 5 and Ally Tuttle won 6-2, 6-0 at No. 6.

In doubles, Still and Creamer won 8-1 at No. 1, White and Scott won 8-0 at No. 2 and Clark-Barraca won 8-3 at No. 3.

Huntingdon plays Case Western Reserve in Atlanta on Sunday. The match is set for 2 p.m.
