GSAC Announces Tennis Weekly Awards

DECATUR,Ga.- Heading into the second full month of competition, the Great South Athletic Conference is pleased to announce this week's men's and women's singles and doubles player of the week. On the women's side, Huntingdon's Katie Scott earns singles and doubles player of the week honors along with teammate Micaela White. For the men, Zach Clark matched Scott by getting singles and doubles player of the week with teammate Jimmy Fulton.

Scott nabbed this week's honor by defeating Case Western's # 2 singles player 0-6, 6-4, 10-6. Case Western is ranked # 14 in the central region. On the doubles side, Micaela and Katie went undefeated this weekend at #2 doubles , defeating Sweetbriar Case Western. Both teams they defeated are regioanlly ranked in their respective regions Sweetbriar is ranked #18 in the south.

On the men's side, Clark swept the men's weekly awards along with Fulton for doubles. On his own, Clark went 1-1 this week for the Scots. In the No.1 singles slot, Clark defeated Crosby Simms of Greensboro 6-0, 6-2 before falling to Tyler Mercier of Guilford 6-3, 6-3. The doubles pair of Fulton and Clark , playing in the No.1 doubles position, went 1-1 with a win over Crosby Simms and Nick Gillespie of Greensboro by the score of 8-1 and a loss to Guilford's Tyler Mercier and Clayton Hamilton by the score of 8-4.
