Still and Thibodeau to play in consolation finals on Sunday
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon's doubles team of Hannah Still and Britni Thibodeau won two matches on Saturday during the second day of the USTA/ITA South Regional Championships and advanced to Sunday's consolation finals.
Still and Thibodeau will play Methodist's Isabella Graf and Hillary Petruska in the finals at Lagoon Park at 10:30 a.m.
Still-Thibodeau defeated Birmingham-Southern by forfeit in the consolation quarterfinals and knocked off the University of the South's Tegan Flynn-Annie Veron 8-5 in the consolation semifinals.
For the day, Huntingdon picked up its fourth singles win of the tournament and its fifth and sixth doubles victories.
Thibodeau picked up Huntingdon's singles win on Saturday. After dropping to the consolation bracket of the main draw on Friday, Thibodeau won a second round consolation match on Saturday before falling in the consolation quarterfinals.
In the B-draw doubles, the team of Micaela White-Arielle Barraca advanced to the semifinals but lost to the University of the South's Kate Johnson-Meredith Lawrence 8-4 on Saturday. Huntingdon's team of Farrah Mahan-Rory Wilson advanced to the B-draw consolation semifinals before falling 8-5 to Centre's Maddie Pitt-Kimberly Randall.
