Huntingdon women’s tennis wins 9th straight match
MACON, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team won its ninth straight match with a 9-0 win over Wesleyan on Friday. With the win, Huntingdon (14-1) improved to 7-0 in the Great South Athletic Conference.
Huntingdon's Hannah Still (No. 4), Deidre Corbin (No. 5) and Rory Wilson (No. 6) each won their singles matches 6-0, 6-0. Britni Thibodeau (No. 2) won 6-0, 6-2 and Taylor Clark (No. 1) and Katie Scott (No. 3) each won when Wesleyan players retired from the match.
In doubles, the No. 1 team of Still-Thibodeau won when Wesleyan retired. The teams of Scott-Micaela White (No. 2) and Corbin-Wilson (No. 3) each won 8-0.
The win at No. 2 doubles was the 50th career doubles victory for Scott, giving her the Huntingdon women's career record for doubles wins during the NCAA era. Christian Vick held the previous record of 49 wins. Scott now holds Huntingdon's NCAA-era records for career singles victories, career doubles victories and career total victories.
Huntingdon plays at Spelman on Saturday at noon.
