Women’s tennis bounces back with win at Piedmont

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team battled back from a tough conference loss on Friday and knocked off Piedmont College 6-3 on Saturday.

With the win, Huntingdon (9-1, 8-1 USA South) remains one of three conference teams with one loss or less. North Carolina Wesleyan (9-2, 9-0 USA South) leads the conference and Huntingdon and Methodist (12-5, 8-1 USA South) are tied for second.

Hannah Still (No. 1), Sarah Warren (No. 2), Tara-Beth Hall (No. 5) and Caroline McBroom (No. 6) picked up singles wins for Huntingdon. The teams of Still-Warren (No. 1) and Octavia Pendleton-Hall (No. 3) won in doubles.

With Saturday's wins, Still improved to 10-0 at No. 1 singles this season and 10-0 at No. 1 and No. 2 doubles this season. The senior, who is one of two Lady Hawks to reach 100 wins during the NCAA era, is closing in on the program's NCAA-era record for career wins.

Former Huntingdon player and current assistant coach Katie Scott holds the Lady Hawks' NCAA-era marks for singles' victories (63), doubles' victories (54) and total victories (117). After Saturday, Still has 60 singles victories, 52 doubles victories and 112 total victories.

Huntingdon returns to action on Tuesday at home against LaGrange.
