Women’s tennis knocks off Albany State

ALBANY, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team stepped out of conference play and picked up a 9-0 win over Division II Albany State on Wednesday.

The Lady Hawks (11-1) are 5-0 on the road this season.

Senior Hannah Still and freshman Sarah Warren won 8-4 at No. 1 doubles to improve to 8-0 on the season. For Still, it was her 54th career doubles win and ties the Lady Hawks' NCAA-era record for doubles victories set by former player and current assistant coach Katie Scott.

Freshmen Caroline McBroom and Sandy Mayson won at No. 2 doubles and freshman Sara Duran and junior Octavia Pendleton won at No. 3 doubles.

In singles, Still (No. 1), Mayson (No. 2), Duran (No. 3), Tara-Beth Hall (No. 4), McBroom (No. 5) and Pendleton (No. 6) each won in straight sets.

Huntingdon returns to action on Saturday at North Carolina Wesleyan at 11 a.m. North Carolina Wesleyan (10-0 USA South) is first in the conference standings and Huntingdon (9-1 USA South) is second.
