Women's tennis earns academic honors from ITA

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was recognized by the ITA with the release of the All-Academic teams on Thursday.

The Lady Hawks were named an ITA All-Academic team for the 11th time in the past 12 seasons.

Junior Octavia Pendleton and freshman Emily Waters were each named ITA Scholar Athletes. A total of 26 Lady Hawks have earned the recognition since 2004.

To qualify as an ITA Scholar Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a 3.50 GPA or higher and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. The All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.

LaGrange was also recognized as an All-Academic team and a total of nine USA South women's tennis players were named Scholar Athletes.
