Lady Hawks come up short against Millsaps

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team lost 5-4 to regionally ranked Millsaps College on Friday.

The Lady Hawks drop to 5-3 on the season while the Majors improve to 6-3. Millsaps is ranked 15th in the Atlantic South Region by the ITA.

Millsaps jumped out to a 2-1 lead after taking a pair of doubles win. Huntingdon won the No. 3 doubles match as the team of Heather Tabor and Clayton Waring took an 8-5 victory.

In singles play, the Lady Hawks took the No. 1, No. 2 and No. 5 positions. Dusty Catala (No. 1) took a 7-5, 6-1 win and Tabor (No. 5) won 6-3, 6-3.

Josie Waddell (No. 2) won in three sets. Waddell dropped her set 1-6, but followed with a 6-2 second set and 6-1 third set.

The Lady Hawks host USA South rival Maryville on Saturday. Match time is set for 10 a.m.

No. 1: Beck-Kanak (MC) def. Zoya Robinson – Waddell (HC) won by retirement

No. 2: Maggie Dabadie – Barbier (MC) def. Bastos – Catala (HC) 8-2

No. 3: Tabor-Waring (HC) def. Hayek-Toups (MC) 8-5
