Lady Hawks recognized with ITA academic honors
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team was recognized by the ITA this week with the release of the All-Academic teams and Scholar-Athletes.
The Lady Hawks were named an ITA All-Academic team for the 12th time in the past 14 seasons and sophomore Josie Waddell and freshmen Mariah Bastos, Virginia Gaston and Clayton Waring were recognized as ITA Scholar-Athletes.
The Lady Hawks have produced 53 ITA Scholar-Athletes since 2004. Waddell is one of 12 Huntingdon players to earn the honor at least twice.
To qualify as an ITA Scholar-Athlete, a player must be a varsity letter winner, have a 3.50 GPA or higher and have been enrolled at their present school for at least two semesters. The All-Academic Team award is open to any ITA program with a cumulative grade point average of 3.20 or better.
