Women's tennis downs Maryville and Rust

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team picked up a pair of 9-0 wins on Sunday against Maryville College and Rust College.

The Lady Hawks, who have an eight-match winning streak, have won seven of their last eight matches by a score of 9-0.

Against Maryville, Huntingdon earned its fifth conference win of the season. The No. 1 doubles team of Josie Waddell and Zoya Robinson and the No. 3 team of Caroline McBroom and Clayton Waring each won 8-0. The No. 2 team of Heather Tabor and Kacy Howard won 8-5.

In singles, Howard (No. 1) won 6-2, 6-2, Waddell (No. 2) won 6-2, 6-0, Robinson (No. 3) won 6-0, 6-0, Tabor (No. 4) won 6-2, 6-1, McBroom (No. 5) won 6-0, 6-3 and Waring (No. 6) won 6-1, 6-0.

Against Rust, Huntingdon won by default at No. 6 singles and No. 3 doubles. Howard and Waring (No. 1) and Kacey Stephens and Lucy Burch (No. 2) each won 8-0 in doubles. Howard (No. 1), Waddell (No. 2), Burch (No. 3), Waring (No. 4) and Stephens (No. 5) each won 8-0 in singles.
