Huntingdon beats LaGrange in final home match of the season

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team defeated LaGrange College 8-1 on Sunday.

The win was the 16th of the season for the Lady Hawks (16-2) and tied the 2010 and 2012 Huntingdon teams for the second most wins in a season during the NCAA era. The 2013 team set the program's NCAA-era record for wins with an 18-4 record.

The No. 1 doubles team of Josie Waddell and Zoya Robinson won 8-2, the No. 2 team of Heather Tabor and Caroline McBroom won 8-4 and the No. 3 team of Kacy Howard and Lucy Burch won 8-1.

In singles, Waddell (No. 2) won 6-2, 6-4, Robinson (No. 3) won 6-2, 6-1, Tabor (No. 4) won 6-1, 6-1, McBroom (No. 5) won 6-0. 6-4 and Kacey Stephens (No. 6) won 6-4, 6-0.

Coming Up: Huntingdon closes out the regular season on Tuesday at Wesleyan before opening play in the USA South Athletic Conference Tournament on Friday in LaGrange, Ga. The Lady Hawks will play Meredith in the first round of the conference tournament.
