Waddell leads All-Conference tennis selections for Huntingdon
FAYETTEVILLE, N.C. – Three Huntingdon women's tennis players and one men's tennis player were recognized with the release of the USA South Athletic Conference All-Conference Awards on Thursday.
Junior Josie Waddell was named first-team All-Conference and first-team All-West Division and teammates Zoya Robinson and Heather Tabor were both named second-team All-West Division. On the men's side, sophomore Adam Self was named honorable mention West Division.
Waddell is the first Lady Hawk to earn first-team All-Conference honors since Huntingdon joined the USA South. This is the second straight season Waddell has been recognized by the USA South. She was named second-team West Division last season.
Playing at No. 1 and No. 2 singles this spring, Waddell has a 6-1 conference record and a 14-3 overall record. She is 7-2 at No. 1 singles and 7-1 at No. 2 singles. In doubles, she and Robinson are 12-3 this season. The duo is 11-3 at No. 1 doubles.
This is the second time Robinson has been recognized by the USA South. Before missing last season with an injury, Robinson was an honorable mention All-Conference selection as a freshman.
This spring, Robinson has an 11-3 record. She is 5-1 at No. 2 singles and 6-2 at No. 3 singles. In doubles, she and Waddell are 12-3 overall and 4-2 in conference play.
Tabor is 12-2 this spring. She is 4-0 at No. 3 singles and 8-2 at No. 4 singles. Teaming with three different doubles partners, Tabor is 12-4 this spring. She and her doubles partners are 11-3 at No. 2 doubles.
On the men's side, Self led Huntingdon with 10 wins this season and finished with a 10-7 overall record during the spring and a 5-5 conference record. Self was 9-6 in doubles, including a 6-1 record at No. 2 doubles.
Self was named to the men's All-Sportsmanship team and senior Caroline McBroom was named to the women's All-Sportsmanship team. This is the second time McBroom has been named to the All-Sportsmanship team.
