Lady Hawks beat Division II Albany State

ALBANY, Ga. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team knocked off Division II Albany State 7-0 on Friday.

Due to a new NCAA scoring format for Division II programs this season, the scoring is handled differently than in Division III. In Division III, a team receives a point for each victory in doubles. In Division II, one point is awarded to the team that wins two or more of the doubles matches.

Per NCAA rules, when teams from different divisions compete, the rules of the home team's division are applied.

Huntingdon won all six singles matches and all three doubles matches.

Josie Waddell (No. 1), Kacy Howard (No. 2), Zoya Robinson (No. 3), Heather Tabor (No. 4), Clayton Waring (No. 5) and Alex Burnham (No. 6) each won their singles matches in straight sets.

In doubles, the team of Waddell-Robinson (No. 1) won 6-4, the team of Tabor-Howard (No. 2) won 6-3 and the team of Waring-Kacey Stephens (No. 3) won 6-2.

Records: Huntingdon (3-2), Albany State (4-2)

Coming Up: Huntingdon will open conference play at Wesleyan on Saturday.
