Waddell breaks Lady Hawks’ NCAA-era record for doubles wins
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon women's tennis team closed out the regular season with a 9-0 win over Rust College on Sunday.
The Lady Hawks won all three doubles matches 8-0 and won five of the six singles matches 8-0.
In doubles, Josie Waddell and Zoya Robinson won at No. 1, Alex Burnham and Kacy Howard won at No. 2 and Clayton Waring and Kacey Stephens won at No. 3.
With the win at No. 1 doubles, Waddell became the Lady Hawks' NCAA-era leader in career doubles victories. With 55 career doubles wins, Waddell broke the record of 54 held by Katie Scott and Hannah Still.
Waddell currently ranks third in singles victories (59) and third in total victories (114). Scott holds both records with 63 singles victories and 117 total victories.
In Sunday's singles matches, Waddell (No. 1), Heather Tabor (No. 2), Waring (No. 3), Lucy Burch (No. 4) and Ashley Burke (No. 6) each won 8-0. Kacey Stephens won 8-1 at No. 5 singles.
