Huntingdon’s Moore enshrined in AUM Athletic Hall of Fame
MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon women's tennis coach Ximena Moore and four others were recently enshrined in the Auburn University Montgomery Athletic Hall of Fame.
Moore is a member of AUM's 12th Hall of Fame class.
"It is a great honor to be recognized for the accomplishments during my career at AUM," Moore said. "I am extremely grateful to AUM, my coaches and my teammates for helping me achieve this amazing honor. AUM gave me the opportunity of my lifetime to not only be the best athlete I could be, but it led me to the opportunity to be the coach that I am today."
As a collegiate player, Moore was a four-time All-American, was part of four doubles national championships and helped lead AUM to three NAIA team national championships (1999, 2000 and 2001). Moore is one of just two players in program history to be selected as the ITA's National Player to Watch as a freshman.
"Adding not only Ximena, but the entire Class of 2018, certainly made our Athletics Hall of Fame more impressive," AUM Assistant Athletics Director Tim Lutz said. "The accomplishments she had, both individually and from a team standpoint, during her time as a student-athlete are hard to match and are absolutely deserving of this honor. We are so proud of how she represented Auburn Montgomery as a student-athlete, but also now as an alumna of the university and an incredibly successful collegiate tennis coach at Huntingdon College."
Moore joined the Huntingdon College staff in 2002 and became the head women's tennis coach in 2003. In 17 seasons, the Lady Hawks' all-time winningest coach has guided her teams to a 217-102 record, 15 consecutive winning seasons and two NCAA Tournament appearances.
Joining Moore in this year's Hall of Fame class are former men's basketball player Albert Lewis, former men's soccer players Masego Ntshingane and Thorhallur Hinriksson and former women's soccer player Helga Osk Hannesdottir.
