HUNTINGDON VOLLEYBALL TEAM WRAPS UP FIRST WEEK OF PRACTICE

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon College volleyball team got off to a good start in preseason practice.

As a result, the Hawks earned a two-day break from practice. After taking the court twice a day for the first four days, head coach Megan Aiello decided to give her team a little rest on Friday and Saturday.

"Overall, we've looked pretty good," Aiello said. "The team is coming together and I'm pretty excited with what I see.

"One of the top things during the first week is to come together as a team. We have to be able to play together as a team so that we can hit the ground running when the season starts."

Aiello said several players have done well this week and she expects her players to keep building next week.

"We've got a lot of players that are working hard right now," Aiello said. "A lot of the players are at about the same level right now. I'm going to expect a little more from them next week when we really get back in the swing of things."

Senior Alyssa Eason and sophomore Mallorie Richardson have been named captains for this season. Aiello said she is looking forward to the competition and continued development of her returning players and newcomers.

"We have some freshmen that have looked strong. They know we're going to need some of them to contribute this season," Aiello said. "Our returning players are battling each other and things look good right now. It's going to be interesting to see how we keep working and who will be in the starting lineup on Sept. 3."

The Hawks begin the season in the Birmingham-Southern tournament on Sept. 3 and Sept. 4.
