Huntingdon splits in first two matches of Rhodes Halloween tournament

MEMPHIS, Tenn. – The Huntingdon volleyball team picked up a three-game win over Rust and dropped a five-game match to Mississippi College on Saturday in the Rhodes Halloween tournament.

Abby Carter, Diane Humphreys and Abby Brown combined for 25 kills in a 25-11, 25-16, 25-23 win over Rust. Carter turned in a team-high 11 kills and also had two aces and four block assists. Humphreys recorded seven kills and five aces and Brown totaled seven kills, one solo block and four block assists. Alyssa Eason finished with 27 assists and two aces and Ashlee Walters had 16 digs.

In a 25-13, 21-25, 25-22, 19-25, 13-15 loss to Mississippi College, Brown recorded 14 kills and five block assists. Lauren Rozof added 12 kills and 16 digs and Melony Motley finished with 11 kills. Eason recorded 39 assists, Carter had seven block assists, Humphreys had three aces and Walters finished with a team-high 17 digs.

Huntingdon (10-22) returns to action in the tournament on Sunday. The Hawks play Hardin Simmons at 10 a.m. and Rhodes College at noon.
