Huntingdon’s season ends in semifinals of GSAC volleyball tournament

DEMOREST, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team picked up a win in its first match on Friday, but top-seeded Maryville was too much to overcome in the Great South Athletic Conference semifinals.

Maryville ended Huntingdon's season 25-12, 25-15, 25-12. The Hawks end the season at 11-25. Maryville (25-7) advances to the GSAC championship on Saturday at noon.

Abby Brown and Lauren Rozof led Huntingdon with five kills each. Rozof added seven digs and Brown and Abby Carter each had three blocks. Alyssa Eason had 13 assists and 10 digs and Ashlee Walters had 10 digs. Victoria Hurd finished with seven digs.

In their first match of the day, the Hawks knocked off Agnes Scott 25-15, 25-22, 25-7 in the GSAC quarterfinals. Brown led Huntingdon with 11 kills and Carter added six kills, seven digs, four assists and two blocks. Eason recorded 17 assists, four aces and four digs. Walters finished with eight digs and Bianca Hulsey added five digs and eight assists.
