Four Huntingdon volleyball players receive GSAC honors

ATLANTA – Huntingdon juniors Kelly Kahumoku and Lauren Rozof and freshmen Kali Martin and Lexi Rangel were recognized with the release of the Great South Athletic Conference volleyball awards on Thursday.

Kahumoku and Rozof were named All-Conference and Martin and Rangel were chosen to the All-Freshman team.

"We're glad to have four players recognized," Huntingdon coach Amy Patterson said. "This is good recognition for them, the program and the school."

Kahumoku is second on the Huntingdon team with 170 kills and also has 120 digs. Rozof is third on the team with 169 kills and third in digs with 202. Martin leads the Lady Hawks with 173 kills and 59 aces and is second with 240 digs. Rangel has a team-high 324 digs and is second on the team with 228 assists and 46 aces.

Huntingdon (14-17) opens play in the GSAC tournament at Agnes Scott on Saturday. The top-seeded Lady Hawks play in the semifinals at noon against the winner of Friday's Spelman-Wesleyan match.

The GSAC championship match is set for 5:30 p.m. on Saturday.

"We're looking forward to the tournament. This is what we've worked for all year," Patterson said. "It's do or die time and I hope we will take what we've learned this season and use it to our advantage this weekend."
