MONTGOMERY, Ala. – Huntingdon volleyball coach Amy Patterson welcomed 22 players to preseason practice this week.

Among the 22 are 14 returning players and eight newcomers who are stepping up their level of play. Patterson said there is good competition this year, so there are no given positions.

Patterson is also pleased with the hitting and strength that has been shown by the returners this preseason.

Huntingdon will host an Alumni Match on Saturday and will open the season on Aug. 29-30 with the Huntingdon College Jubilee.

As for the Alumni Match, Patterson believes it will be a good early gauge of the team's progress.

"I'm looking for our girls to work together as a team," Patterson said. "We will put different people out there at different times to see who plays well together and who steps up their game."
