Lady Hawks fall in pair of conference matches

LAGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team lost to Averett in three games and fell to Ferrum in five games in USA South action on Saturday.

The Lady Hawks lost to Averett 25-19, 25-13, 25-10 in the first match before taking Ferrum to the limit in a 27-29, 25-14, 25-18, 23-25, 16-18 loss. Averett (17-12, 11-4 USA South) is second in the North Division standings.

Bria Rochelle had six kills, Lexi Rangel had five kills and six assists, Cora Murchison had eight assists and Lauren Condon had eight digs to lead Huntingdon (5-20, 0-10 USA South) against Averett.

Against Ferrum (4-19, 3-12 USA South), Rachel Dunlay recorded 14 kills, Rochelle had 13 kills and 4 blocks and Brooke Garrison added seven kills, eight digs and a block. Rangel totaled 30 assists, five kills and 13 digs and Murchison had 11 assists and 13 digs.

Condon recorded a match-high 38 digs and Bobie Wilson finished with 15 digs and four aces. Kalen Morgan had five kills and three blocks, Brittany Frost added five kills, eight digs and three blocks, Jello Weatherspoon had five kills and Storm McWhorter finished with nine digs.

Huntingdon travels to Judson on Wednesday for a 6 p.m. match.
