MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team welcomed 24 student-athletes to campus on Friday for the start of preseason.

"We're really excited to have the girls here," first-year head coach Latonia Allen said. "It's nice to get back to coaching and to get ready for the season after being in recruiting mode all summer."

The Lady Hawks return 13 players from last year's roster and welcome 11 newcomers.

"The returners got a taste of our system in the spring season, so they should know what we're expecting out of them this preseason," Allen said. "There are several newcomers we're really excited about as well, and to add depth is very nice."

The Lady Hawks begin practice on Saturday at 9:15 a.m.

Huntingdon opens its schedule with the six-team Huntingdon Tournament on Sept. 4-5. The Lady Hawks will play Talladega and Sewanee on Sept. 4 and will face Belhaven and Agnes Scott on Sept. 5.
