Hawks beat Methodist, fall in 4 to North Division leader Meredith

LaGRANGE, Ga. – The Huntingdon volleyball team earned a split during Sunday's USA South Athletic Conference matches at LaGrange.

The Hawks knocked off Methodist in three games before falling to Meredith in four games. The 25-18, 25-21, 26-24 win over Methodist was the second straight conference win for Huntingdon and the fourth straight win overall. Against the Avenging Angels, who are tied for first in the North Division of the USA South, Huntingdon fell in a 25-22, 16-25, 17-25, 21-25 battle.

Against Methodist (15-8, 7-6 USA South), six players combined for 43 kills for Huntingdon (10-17, 2-9 USA South). Bria Rochelle led the way with 10 kills, Kalen Morgan added nine kills, Audrianna Hargitt and Ashton Flores each had seven kills and Ashley Childs and Deidre Corbin each finished with five kills. Flores also had four blocks and Corbin had two blocks.

Cora Murchison recorded 23 assists and Lexi Rangel followed with 14 assists. Lauren Condon finished with 16 digs and Bobie Wilson had eight digs.

Against Meredith (17-7, 11-2 USA South), Hargitt totaled 14 kills and Rochelle added 10 kills, 12 digs and three blocks. Morgan finished with seven kills and three blocks and Murchison had 26 assists and eight digs. Rangel had seven assists and nine digs, Flores finished with five blocks and Condon had 12 digs.

Huntingdon travels to Judson on Monday for a 6 p.m. match.
