Volleyball splits to open season

SEWANEE, Tenn. – The Huntingdon volleyball team split in its first two matches of the season on Friday in the Sewanee Invitational.

The Hawks defeated Pensacola Christian 20-25, 25-13, 25-20, 25-20 and lost to Sewanee 25-19, 25-18, 25-12.

Audrianna Hargitt led Huntingdon with 13 kills against Pensacola Christian. Bria Rochelle added 11 kills, Kalen Morgan finished with nine kills and Shelby Young had six aces.

Complete stats were not available for the Pensacola Christian match.

Against Sewanee (2-0), Hargitt recorded seven kills, Morgan followed with six kills and Young had five kills. Kaitlyn Carter finished with 10 assists and seven digs and Devyn Stringer added nine assists. Rochelle had 10 digs and Porsha Wilson finished with eight digs.

Huntingdon (1-1) returns to action in the Sewanee Invitational with two matches on Saturday. The Hawks play Middle Georgia State at 11 a.m. and Boyce College at 3 p.m.
