Hawks open conference play with a pair of losses

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team opened conference play with a pair of losses on Saturday in a USA South Athletic Conference quad-match at Roland Arena.

The Hawks fell to North Carolina Wesleyan 25-20, 25-14, 25-22 and lost to Meredith 25-17, 25-16, 25-18.

In the opening match with the Battling Bishops (3-10, 1-1 USA South), Kalen Morgan led the Hawks (4-11, 0-2 USA South) with seven kills and Bria Rochelle had five kills and eight digs. Kaitlyn Carter recorded 14 assists and nine digs and Shelby Young totaled 12 digs.

In the final match against the Avenging Angels (10-2, 2-0 USA South), Rochelle and Audrianna Hargitt each had seven kills and Alexis Creasman added six kills. Rochelle also had 11 digs, as did Young and Hargitt added nine digs. Devyn Stringer finished with 20 assists.

Huntingdon will host another USA South quad-match on Sunday. The Hawks play Mary Baldwin at 10 a.m. and Ferrum at 4 p.m. In between, Agnes Scott and Mary Baldwin will play at noon and Agnes Scott and Ferrum will play at 2 p.m.
