Volleyball falls in four sets to conference rival Piedmont

MONTGOMERY, Ala. – The Huntingdon volleyball team battled Piedmont close on Friday night, but fell in four sets to USA South Athletic Conference rival Piedmont College.

Huntingdon fell to 8-18 and 4-8 in conference play while Piedmont improved to 14-10 and 6-6.

The Hawks lost 26-28, 25-27, 25-19 and 24-26. Neither team led by more than three points in the first, second and fourth sets. Huntingdon led by seven points in the third set, the most in the match.

Seniors Alex Carroll, Audrianna Hargitt and Kalen Morgan were honored before the match. Carroll and Morgan have been with the Hawks for four years while Hargitt transferred in for her junior and senior seasons.

Hargitt led the Hawks with a match-high 17 kills and added 14 digs. Bria Rochelle was not far behind with 13 kills and 15 digs. Morgan recorded 10 kills and had a career-high 18 digs.

Freshman Alexis Creasman finished third on the team with 12 kills. Freshman Shelby Young recorded 16 digs.

Sophomore Kaitlyn Carter had a team-high 29 digs and freshman Devyn Stringer recorded 22 digs.

Huntingdon travels to Pensacola Christian on Monday for a 6 p.m. matchup.
